The first thing you need is for a passport is the picture. When I got my first passport I went to a camera shop at the mall, paid my $20 and walked away with a really bad picture. Obviously, something I am not looking forward to again.
I started thinking... I have a digital camera. Why can't I just look up the requirements for the pictures and take them myself? That is when I found ePassportPhoto.com
I took the picture, uploaded it to ePassportPhoto.com. After it is loaded, you can move the picture area around, so that you are centered. The correct ratio will be kept, so no matter what you do you know it will be the right size. There are even cheats to make sure you are in compliance with regulations. (The edge of your chin and the top of your head must be inside the green rectangles. If it isn't, just resize the picture and try again.) Once you are done, you have the option of downloading the pictures to your computer and printing them yourself, or with Snapfish.com (still free if you open a new Snapfish account) or ordering directly from ePassportPhoto.com
Ethan doing his best Ricky Bobby so that we could try the program. (He really isn't that chubby. Marty said "Remember, the camera adds 10 lbs." and I said it must have added 10 lbs. per picture, for a total of 60.)
My brother is coming up to visit in a few weeks. I think I am going to ask him to bring his really, really good digital camera. Every little bit helps, right?
